The University of South Wales is one of the largest universities in the UK and the largest in Wales, offering our students excellent opportunities and prospects.

More than a degree

A course at the University of South Wales is more than just a degree. Inside and outside the classroom, we help you achieve your full potential.

We’re committed to preparing our students fully for the start of their graduate-level careers. Employability is at the heart of everything – we’ve even made it part of the curriculum. Teaching is informed by what happens in the real world and skills needed for the workplace.

The University of South Wales is unique in bringing together the broadest range of programmes and levels of study. This rich learning environment will give you a rounded university education and broaden your outlook from within your chosen discipline.

Work experience

Learning isn’t just about books – work experience is a crucial part of your education. From projects based on real-life cases to year-long ‘sandwich’ placements in industry, there are plenty of ways to get the experience you need.

Our approach works. 93% of our graduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduation – a figure well above the UK average (HESA/HEFCW Performance Indicators 2011/12).

We work with world-leaders such as Microsoft, British Airways and the BBC to inform our courses and offer work experience.

Accredited courses

Many courses at the University have been accredited by professional bodies. This means they’re of the highest standard and can earn you exemptions from professional exams.

Many employers want graduates of accredited courses, so our students know they have the right skills, knowledge and attitude to impress at interview.

Facilities

Preparing students for their graduate careers is our priority. So we’ve invested £160m to provide the best facilities and support.

Our students learn about their profession in environments that recreate the workplace, using the same equipment they’ll find in industry. This approach ensures they are ready for the workplace and have the confidence to succeed.

Here, you’ll find industry-standard equipment and exciting places to learn new things. From a scenes of crime house and an aircraft hangar, to photography, music and TV studios – you’ll gain essential skills using some of the best facilities in the UK.

Student life

Don’t forget what happens outside the classroom! At university, you’ll make friends for life, try new things and become more independent than ever before.

South Wales is a welcoming place to study. Our students love the friendly, community atmosphere you’ll find on our campuses. Plus our location means you can enjoy the best the region has to offer – city life, stunning countryside and some of the best beaches in Europe.
