Northbrook remains the largest provider of higher education for the creative and cultural industries in West Sussex, as well as being a long-established specialist in automotive engineering.

Students regularly win national prizes, notably the 'Best Womenswear' award at Graduate Fashion Week, the Channel 4 'Picture This' photography prize, the Macmillan Children's Book Illustration prize and the international Indie Pub game design award. (Recent QAA Integrated Quality Review)

The review report in 2012 awarded the College the highest possible rating, stating that the QAA had "Confidence in the College's management of its responsibilities...for the quality of learning opportunities it offers". Northbrook's courses are industry led, with an emphasis on employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship. Many of the lecturing staff are practitioners with current links to the creative industries. Courses include live projects and work placements and many have the endorsement of professional bodies. Students benefit from the personalised academic and pastoral support offered by a relatively small institution. The College provides individual support through small group teaching, personal tutors and generous contact teaching hours per week. The industry standard facilities on campus include:

  • A professional theatre equipped with fly tower, digital sound, moving lights and multimedia projection
  • Specialist workshops and studios equipped for a range of creative practices, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, wood, textiles, film, photography and graphics
  • Apple Mac computer suites with creative industry standard applications
  • A contemporary music recording studio complex, housing over 25 soundproofed studios along with sampling, sound and keyboard laboratories
  • Dance and rehearsal studios
  • A dedicated automotive engineering facility at Shoreham Airport
