Courses at Sparsholt are supported by dedicated facilities of exceptional quality and national importance including

  • The National Aquatic Training Centre incorporating a fisheries trials unit
  • A new Salmonid Rearing and Trials Centre
  • An extensive Animal Management Centre with its own zoo licence and specialist modern Veterinary Nursing Training Centre
  • The BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time ‘potting shed’
  • Extensive, very well resourced Equine Centre, host to the Australian Paralympic Equestrian Team for their London 2012 pre-Olympic Games training

  • A dedicated Higher Education study and lounge centre provides a focus for the Higher Education community. Access to facilities at the University of Portsmouth include the library, online resources and clubs, and sporting facilities. Students have access to new, en0suite residential rooms at the University of Winchester together with a range of opportunities including access to sport and recreational facilities, student clubs, the Students’ Union and NUS membership. With the University of Winchester and Southampton University’s School of Art also located in the city, Winchester is home to thousands of students from around the country. The city centre is easily accessible for shopping with a good selection of places whatever your budget. There is a cinema and a wide range of pubs and bars for an evening out. The open country around Winchester and Southampton is crossed with paths and trails with the opportunity to enjoy many outdoor sports. Many students will travel to Southampton (20 minutes by train) to enjoy clubs and a vibrant music scene, or Basingstoke for activities like bowling, ice skating and multi-screen cinemas.

Staff are available to provide guidance on an informal basis about all our courses, finance and bursaries, accommodation, transport and careers advice. Current students are on hand to tell you what life is really like at Sparsholt and to take you on a tour around the College.
